1. Let It Burn (the Right Way)

For the best results and to make the most of your candle, let it burn for 2–4 hours at a time. Allow the melted wax to reach the edges of the jar before blowing it out this helps prevent tunneling and ensures an even, long-lasting burn.

Unlike some waxes, beeswax is more forgiving with shorter burns and usually evens itself out later. Still, it’s a good habit to let it burn fully when you can so you enjoy every last drop of your candle.

2. How Long Should You Burn Your Candle?

  • Burn Time: Limit each burn session to no more than 4 hours.

  • Watch the Flame: If the flame becomes small or unsteady, it's time to extinguish.

  • Cool & Reset: Allow the wax to fully solidify before relighting.

  • Trim the Wick: Always trim the wick before your next burn to ensure a clean, even flame.

3. Wick Trimming Tips for a Clean Burn:

  • Trim before every burn: Keep your wick at 2–3 mm (Approx. 1/8") before lighting.

  • Tools that work: Use a wick trimmer, scissors, or a nail clippers.

  • Why it matters: A shorter wick helps the flame stay clean and steady, prevents smoke, and extends the life of your candle.

  • We’ve got you started: At GHC, we pre-trim every candle before shipping. After that, it’s your turn!

4. Reuse & Refill Your Candle Vessel:

  • Repurpose your container once the candle is finished, you can use it as a plant pot, match jar, refill, or decor!

  • Glass jars are reusable and dishwasher safe. Just remove leftover wax, rinse with warm soapy water, and sanitize in the dishwasher.

  • Return: You can return your container back to us for a refill. Check out our refill program. (COMING SOON)

  • Avoid over-burning: Continuing to burn a nearly empty candle may damage the container (e.g., cracked glass) or scorch the surface it’s on.

  • We use safe, sturdy materials: tempered glass, sealed metal/tin, ceramic, terracotta, or concrete.

Your candle was made with heart, not machines!

Small cracks or surface quirks? Totally normal with handmade beeswax candles. These little imperfections are just part of the charm they’re proof that your candle was lovingly crafted, not mass-produced. Every one is a bit different, and that’s what makes yours one of a kind!

PRO TIPS: Safety first, always!

Set your candle on a flat, heat-safe surface away from breezy drafts, curious kiddos, and nosy pets. Don’t leave it burning solo (candles love company!). Keep burn time under 4 hours, and hands off while it’s lit; the jar gets hot and cranky when moved.
